Spies Ties Record at Infineon Raceway
Bostrom Wins Second Staight Formula Xtreme

Sonoma, CA (May 20 - 21, 2006) — Ben Spies accomplished the unthinkable during the fourth round of the 2006 Superbike Championship Presented by Parts Unlimited. Spies became the only other rider besides Miguel DuHamel to win six straight Superbike races.
Saturday's Superbike race saw Spies grab the lead from the pole position with six-time champion, Mat Mladin in tow. The two immediately began opening up a lead from the rest of the pack. Jake Zemke ran third early in the race before slowly fading and eventually finishing eighth. Neil Hodgson picked up his fourth consecutive fifth place finish of the year while teammate, Ben Bostrom came across the line in sixth.
The Formula Xtreme class provided some exciting racing as Eric Bostrom quickly opened up a lead over Jason DiSalvo. DiSalvo picked up the pace on the tenth lap and found a way around Bostrom. As the race wound down, Bostrom frantically tried to make a pass in turn seven but was shut down by DiSalvo. On the last lap, Bostrom went for the same pass in the same corner, only this time it worked. DiSalvo tried to retaliate and come back around Bostrom but pushed too far into the marbles and nearly went down.
Sunday's Superbike was virtually a repeat of Saturday's race as Spies jumped out to the early lead and ultimately pulled away from the pack. Mladin and DuHamel rounded out the podium. Hodgson put together another good ride on Sunday as he battled his way up to fourth.
The Pro Oils Supersport contest was cancelled Sunday shortly after the green flag was thrown due to rain.
