Spies Sweeps Fontana

Fontana, CA (April 28-30, 2006) — Parts Unlimited rider, Ben Spies continued his winning ways as he swept both Superbike races this weekend in Fontana, making it four in a row.

Saturday's race saw Spies grab the holeshot and an early lead before running off the track and falling back to fourth. Mat Mladin took over the lead while Spies worked his way around Aaron Yates and Jake Zemke. Around the halfway point, Mladin slowed considerably due to tire choice and Spies sped off for the win. Zemke went on to take his second podium of the year in third.

Sunday's race had Spies out front leading the first four laps until Mladin went by in which he led the next 13 laps. With around 10 laps to go, Spies shot around Mladin and opened up a 4.4 second lead over Mladin at the finish. Zemke began the race third and finished third.

Parts Unlimited rider, Eric Bostom took his first win of the season in the AMA Formula Xtreme class. After narrowly avoiding a collision with Josh Hayes in the first corner, Bostrom was able to ride to a 7.9 second lead at the end. Meanwhile, Hayes and pole-setter, Jason DiSalvo had an entertaining race as they passed each other back and forth before DiSalvo finally broke away and finished second while Hayes took third and teammate Aaron Gobert finished fourth.
