Reed Leaves Canada with Points Lead
12/11/2006
Vancouver, BC - Round two of the Amp'd Mobile World Supercross Series wrapped up December 9th, 2006 with more exciting racing and heads into the opening round of the AMA Supercross Series with Chad Reed leading Ricky Carmichael by 2 points and James Stewart by 5. With Carmichael running a partial season, Stewart will be Reed's main focus and title competitor.
Reed began the evening with a convincing heat win while Carmichael put an end to Stewart's perfect heat race streak in heat two.
When the gate dropped for the Supercross main event, Stewart rocked out to grab the holeshot. Behind him sat Michael Byrne, Tim Ferry, Carmichael and Reed. By the end of the first few laps, Reed had worked his way into third while Carmichael ran behind Stewart. Throughout the race, Reed struggled with a rhythm section and allowed Stewart and Carmichael to inch away. On lap 15 Carmichael made his way around Stewart and earned the win. Reed settled for third and in doing so heads into Anaheim with the points lead. Reeds teammate, Nathan Ramsey came back from a horrible weekend in Toronto to finish sixth on the night.
