Reed Gains Speed, Confidence and Fans at A3

Janesville, WI - The fifth and final Anaheim round of the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series wrapped up Saturday night and provided the packed Angel Stadium with exciting racing. With Ricky Carmichael not participating, everyone wondered if Chad Reed would step up and race with James Stewart. At the end of the night, Reed not only proved he's ready for battle, he may have earned the respect of some doubting fans as Stewart was booed on the podium due to a sketchy move he put on Reed in the main event. In the Lites, Ryan Villopoto once again proved he's the next big thing as he grabbed the holeshot on the restart and checked out.

The first holeshot in the Lites main event went to Josh Hansen followed by Jason Lawerence but was redflagged after Jake Weimer went down hard in the first corner. On the restart, Villopoto would grab the holeshot and eventually pull out to a commanding lead and the win.. Meanwhile, Josh Grasnt, Martin Davalos and Chris Gosselaar battled for the rest of the podium spots. As Lil Goose ran in fourth, a big mistake would allow Jason Lawerence, Josh Hill and Josh Hansen by. Lawrence and Hill were able to charge to third and fourth respectively behind RV and Grant.

Stewart grabbed the Supercross holeshot ahead of Reed, Tim Ferry and Nick Wey. After lap one, Stewart had already opened a gap over Reed but as the race wore on, Reed would slowly begin to reel Stewart back in. On the fourth lap, Stewart made a mistake that allowed Reed to move up on his back wheel. The following lap, Reedy made a block pass on Stewart and moved into the lead. Stewart quickly retaliated with a controversial pass and regained the lead. For the rest of the race, Stewart and Reed would stay about three seconds apart while Ferry rode around in third uncontested.
